7th place in the World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn

Katia did a great job at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn. After the short program, with a score of 63.20 points, she was in 9th place. A well-made free skating elevated her two places higher, up to the seventh place in the overall competition classification. Katia’s final result was 184.51 points.

Now Katia is preparing for the World Championships in Montreal in the senior category, which start on 16th of March.

Katia defends the Polish Junior Champion title

Katia defended the title of Polish Junior Champion in Krynica-Zdrój with the score of 184.07 points. In this way she overtook Oliwia Rzepiel (UKŁF Ochota Warszawa), who took second place, by over 56 points (127.37). It increased Katia’s advantage in the qualifying ranking to the Polish National Team for the Junior World Championships, which will be held on 2-8 March 2020 in Tallinn.

Katia in tenth place of European Championships

It was a successful debut of Ekaterina Kurakova in the European Championships (Graz), as a representative of Poland.

Katia after the short program, for which she received 58.49 points, was in the 13th position and she easily advanced to the finals. Her free program was rated at 111.75 points, which in the end gave her promotion by 3 positions. Eventually she was classified in 10th place with a total score of 170.24 points.

The last skater who won such a high position for Poland in the soloists category was Sabina Wojtala in 1999. It is also worth emphasizing that Katia’s good start guaranteed our country the participation of two soloists in next year’s European Championships.

Gold for Katia in Mentor Toruń Cup 2020!

Ekaterina Kurakova won gold in the Mentor Toruń Cup 2020 competition – for the first time as a representative of Poland.

Katia was in the lead right after the Short Program (62.66 points), with an advantage of over 11 points over Aleksandra GOLOVKINA (LTU), who was second in the classification with the score of 51.21 points. The Free Skating sealed her victory. The skater from MKS Axel Toruń got 181.97 points and took first place among the seniors, outclassing the rivals. Emily Zhang (USA) took second place with the score of 153.00 points and Alina Iushchenkova from Israel (139.81 points) won bronze medal.

Katia took part not only in the competition, but also during the Saturday Final Gala. Her dynamic program, prepared especially for this occasion, received huge audience applause.

Katia wins the Polish Championships 2020

As expected, Katia turned out to be the best among the soloists in the Polish Championships held in Ostrava. Thus, with the final result of 177.96 points, she became Polish Champion, ahead of Oliwa Rzepiel (II place) with an advantage of over 62 points. This result also ensured her victory in the 4 Nationals Championships.

Plush toys for the Polish Medical Air Rescue

Katia donated plush toys received from her fans to the Polish Medical Air Rescue. Behind the action there are Natalia Kaliszek and Maksym Spodyriev, titled skaters from MKS AXEL in Toruń – the club Katia also belongs to. The mascots, which skaters get as an expression of thanks from their fans and supporters, will now gain a new meaning – they will bring joy and consolation to the youngest patients and victims of accidents. Although Katia, after the last Warsaw Cup competition, has already gone to Canada, she managed to pass her part of toys before leaving. Yesterday, through Natalia and Maks, they arrived at the Polish Medical Air Rescue base.

Katia wins Warsaw Cup 2019

Katia Kurakova presented herself excellently during the Warsaw Cup 2019 competition, included in the ISU Challenger series. After the Short Program, Katia was in second place with the new Season’s Best at 66.08 points. She was behind the American skater, Bradie Tennell, with a loss of only 4 points. However, Katia’s Free Skating was rated very high (135.39 points) and with a total score of 201.47 points she won the Warsaw Cup competition.

7th place in Junior Grand Prix in Gdańsk

Katia Kurakova had another successful start in this year’s Junior Grand Prix series, this time in Gdańsk. In the Short Program, Katia scored 60.54 points (SB), which placed her in seventh place, while for her Free Skating she received 112.05 points. With a total of 172.59 points for both performances, she finally took 7th position, which was the best result among Polish representatives in this competition.

Katia wins the Minto Summer Skate 2019

Although we have the middle of summer, Ekaterina Kurakova took part in the first skating competition Minto Summer Skate 2019.

For our representative, who trains in Toronto on a daily basis, it was a very good test before the upcoming season. Already after the short program, she was in the lead with the result of 61.70 points. The free program, for which she collected 121.07 points, sealed her first position in the competition.
